Welcome to Tipton Green Methodist Church
Serving Tipton since 1750, we are a warm, judgment‑free Methodist community where worship, fellowship and Biblical truth shape everyday life.
Who we are
Tipton Green Methodist Church opened in July 1978 when Park Lane, Bloomfield and Bell Street churches became one fellowship. Methodists have worshipped on this site since 1750, when a first preaching house was built, later replaced by a chapel in 1786. Park Lane Methodist Church was built in 1809 and, though it fell into disrepair by 1975, a blue English Heritage plaque marks the site as one where John Wesley preached—testimony to God’s grace at work in this community for over two centuries.
Community and partnerships
- We enjoy good relationships with other local churches. New Life Church meets in our premises on Sunday afternoons.
- We have strong links with the Tipton Food Bank, operating since 2013, with people from Tipton Green involved from its inception.
Our Ethos & Values
We offer a warm welcome, free from judgment, and a space where everyone can explore who God is and what He has done for us in Jesus. We believe that regular worship, fellowship and Biblical truth are central to our discipleship journey. 'Church' should be more than a Sunday activity - it should be a thriving community of believers who are serious about their faith and wish to mature in their relationship with Christ. Our values are based on friendship, compassion, care and fellowship in Jesus.

Our vision
We actively seek to grow our congregation through developing closer links with our community and families. Our aim is to make Jesus real to people in our vicinity, encourage meaningful faith, and grow a love‑centred fellowship for all ages, while remaining true to our Methodist tradition and heritage. Wherever you are on your Christian journey, you are welcome to join us at Tipton Green.
What happens here at Tipton Green?
Sunday morning worship with Junior Church
With a few exceptions, worship takes place every Sunday morning at 10.30am and services normally last for about an hour.
Our worship style is mostly 'traditional' with services led by ordained Ministers and local preachers who will often adopt more contemporary and alternative forms of worship. 'Local arrangement' services are led by members of our congregation and enable everyone to develop their gifts. Our Junior Church runs in parallel with the main service and is usually held in the church hall.
Heart to Art
A regular, community‑focused time to share friendship through craft‑based activities - in a relaxed and informal setting.
Lunch Club
Held on the first Wednesday of each month, offering cooked meals, drinks and friendly company; especially valued by older people who have the opportunity to meet friends and reduce isolation.
Guides, Brownies and Rainbows
Meet regularly in the church hall - offering friendship, fun and exciting activities for girls.
Age ranges are:
Rainbows (4 - 7), Brownies (7 -10) and Guides (10 - 14).
Junior Fun Club
A weekly evening get‑together for young people (aged 8 - 16) with games, crafts and other activities, finishing with a short Christian message. We often invite external presenters to entertain and inform our young people - including craft evenings, scientific talks, animal and pet demonstrations and a magic show. All are welcome, not just those who attend church on a Sunday.
Rhema Bible Fellowship
A regular and varied programme of Biblical studies, presented in an informal way with light refreshments. Usually led by our local preachers or trusted friends from other churches. Our annual Lent course, leading up to Easter, is particularly popular.
